Compassion or Suffering?
Thoughts about the Buddhist doctrine of Reincarnation vs Christian Salvation
When I was a Buddhist, one of my arguments against Christians and Mormons was that reincarnation was far more compassionate than getting just ‘one kick at the can.’ Cause if you mess up your one chance, you’re eternally screwed.
After all, I would argue, if God really loved you, why would you only get one chance to get it right? Why wouldn’t he give you as many as you needed until you finally “got it?”
As I began to look into Orthodox Christianity and took the time to pray and ask God all of these questions, I began to develop a different perspective. Before I explain that perspective to you, however, I feel that I need to cover a few fundamentals of what Reincarnation is, what it means, and how Orthodox Christians view the concept of Hell.
